#rarediseases
Walking into an exhibition and realising, step by step, that something is changing.
Outlines blur and details slip away. The paintings – inspired by the works of Impressionist artists – lose their colour: delicate brushstrokes, diffused light and blending shades give them an unstable quality. Then, slowly, those colours fade and dissolve until they become uncertain, pale and hard to grasp.
The LHON Museum is an experience that reverses the point of view: rather than simply describing the disease, it attempts to make visitors feel it, immersively recreating the way people living with LHON see.
The visit ends with a final, even more direct and human moment: a piano played by a person with LHON. It is a moment that transforms the end of the exhibition into something lasting – something real.
