A game, a voice, a different way of connecting with something that is often difficult to imagine.
This immersive gaming experience was created to portray LHON (Leber hereditary optic neuropathy) through a language designed not only to inform, but also to engage and deepen understanding, bringing people closer to the perception of those who live with visual impairment every day.
At the heart of the experience is The Vale: Shadow of the Crown, an audio-based video game developed by the independent Canadian studio The Falling Squirrel. The adventure is built almost entirely around listening: sounds, dialogue and audio cues guide players through exploration and choices, rendering the experience accessible to blind or partially sighted people as well.
This very feature makes the game a particularly effective tool for transforming play into a space for empathy and inclusion.
