There is a moment when illness shatters the balance of things.
Luce tra i frammenti tells the story of the moment a haematological disease bursts into Mira’s life and changes its balance: the first symptoms, the diagnosis of a blood cancer, the sudden break with her former life.
From this premise comes a 2D-animated short film created by students on NABA’s three-year BA programme in Film and Animation. It is a journey through fear, fragility and uncertainty, accompanied, however, by the bond with her daughter and the very real possibility of a new outlook. At the heart of the story is CAR T-cell therapy, presented as a beacon of hope – the point where the narrative opens up to the future again. This is where Luce tra i frammenti finds its clearest meaning: showing how, even amid the rupture, treatment can offer the chance of a new beginning.
